Feeding Kids, Changing Lives
Every week, hundreds of students across northern Michigan walk into school hungry. Your donation puts food on their table—and hope in their future.
Our 16 school-based youth pantries wouldn’t be possible without your support. Located right inside schools across Alanson, Harbor Springs, Pellston, and Petoskey, these pantries allow students to shop for groceries, toiletries, and clothing with the help of caring volunteers.
Your donations don’t just fill backpacks—they fuel confidence. When a student has food for the weekend and a clean shirt for Monday, they can focus on what matters: learning, growing, and dreaming bigger.
We started in 2016 with 8 students at one middle school. Today, 350+ students visit our pantries every week. That growth happened because people like you believed that no kid should sit in class hungry.
Every dollar you give goes directly to feeding kids and changing lives in our community.
Thank you for being a Hero and making a difference in the lives of children in need. Your support means everything!
4 out of 10 students in our schools are dealing with hunger every single day.
Your donation feeds them this week—and gives them the strength to build a better tomorrow.
Your Gift in Action
When you donate to Northmen Den Youth Services, every dollar goes toward nourishing students who are dealing with hunger, poverty, and the daily challenges of growing up without enough. Here’s what your generosity provides:
- $25 fills a student’s bag with groceries, toiletries, and supplies for the weekend.
- $65 stocks a pantry shelf for a week—feeding multiple students and their siblings.
- $100 provides a month of weekend food for a student who would otherwise go without.
- $250 supplies new clothing and winter gear so students can walk into school with dignity.
- $500 helps keep a pantry running for an entire month—food, supplies, and volunteer support.
- $1,000 helps keep pantry shelves stocked, and students welcomed with care, dignity, and consistency throughout the school year.
Every donation — no matter the size — feeds a child and helps change a life.
A student walked into our pantry for the first time as a sophomore and told a volunteer her dream was to become a doctor. Our volunteers encouraged her every week—not just with food, but with belief. When she graduated and was accepted into MSU’s pre-med program, she said:
I could not have done it without your encouragement and all the healthy food at the Northmen Den.
The Future Doctor
One student visited the Northmen Den weekly from middle school through graduation. She relied on the food, the clothing, and the toiletries—but what she needed most was the emotional support from our volunteers. When she was accepted to college as the first in her family to attend, three volunteers sat in the bleachers to cheer her across the stage.
That’s what your donation makes possible. Not just meals—but relationships that change the trajectory of a young life.
More Than Food
The student described how their family has very little, and how this assistance provides real, tangible help for both them and their younger sisters.
My family does not have much of anything. You don’t know how this helps me and my younger sisters.
Petoskey Middle School Student
We operate 16 food pantries inside area middle and high schools, open two days each week. Students shop for brand-name groceries, toiletries, school supplies, and new clothing—choosing what they need with dignity and independence. Many take extra items home to care for younger siblings.
Our volunteers don’t just stock shelves. They build relationships—becoming trusted adults who encourage students to dream bigger and believe they can write a better story for themselves.
